Connecting to your server

Which address goes into the client, and what to check when nothing happens.

The address

Address and port are in your instance overview, right under the name. The port is yours alone, which is why it is rarely the default one.

node1.citexnode.de:25501
An example. Your own address is in the overview, not here.

For Java put the whole address:port into the server address field. For Bedrock, address and port go into two separate fields.

Java and Bedrock are not the same thing

A Paper, Purpur or Fabric server speaks the Java protocol. The Bedrock edition, meaning phone, console and the Windows Store version, cannot reach it.

The reverse holds too: you cannot reach a Bedrock server with the Java edition.

Nothing happens

In this order, it saves time:

  • Does the instance read running? A server still installing or stopped does not answer.
  • Does the console say Done or Server started? While the world is still being generated, the port is closed.
  • Did you copy address and port exactly as they appear in the overview? The port is the most common typo.
  • Is the node online? The status page says so, and it says when the problem is ours.
